THE CAROLERS THREE

T'was late in the night on a December's eve

My heart felt the warmth, while my feet felt the freeze.

My long journey home was almost complete

When my ears seemed to catch a familiar beat.

Parum pa pum pum, it started to come

Through the cold winter night from a 'cussionists' drum

He wore naught but a thin coat all covered in dust

Not a thing could defer him; not even Frost's gust.

"Why do you play?" asked my quivering voice

He just smiled and said "It's my privelidge, my choice"

"I drum to announce the birth of the Babe,"

And he sang a sweet tune as his roughened hands played.

He sang:

"Fa la la la la, la la la la lay

Remember forver the birth of the babe"

He sang

"Fa la la la la, la la la la lay

Remember forever the birth of the babe"

The beat became louder as I went on my way

My feet matched the pace, of the meter he played;

And then suddenly I heard the tinker of keys:

Ebon and Ivor and pure melody.

A lad and his piano I saw in the distance.

They were right by my side in what seemed like an instance.

Tickling my senses, and melting my heart

I dropped my defenses as he played his part.

He joined with the drummer boy, and it wasn't too long

Till the beat and the melody gave birth to a song.

"We play to announce the birth of the babe"

And I stood there in awe as the two songbirds played;

They sang

"Fa la la la, Hear our sweet melody

Lord Jesus is come, his praises we sing,"

They sang

"Fa la la la la, la la la la lay

Remember forever the birth of the babe"

In a quick flash of light from the sky's brightest star

Came a minstrel whose cadance was made by guitar.

As Nimbly his fingers lept over the strings

Sparks flew till a fire warmed away Winters' sting.

"May I join you, my brothers?" He asked of the others.

"Of course" they replied "We've needed another."

Their harmony fused melody with the rhythm

And my heart longed to ask them if I could sing with them.

For ne'er had I heard a music so pure,
And I turend to leave them for I still felt unsure.

"Stay and sing with us sister," beckoned the three;

And we stood there, the drummer, the minstrels and me.

We sang

"Fa la la la la, raise your voice and sing

Welcome the birth of our Saviour, our King"

We sang

Fa la la la la, la la la la lay

Remember forever the birth of the babe"

And then with the heat of ten thousand fires

We sang with the power of ten thousand choirs

And angels accompanied our sweet symphony

I'll never forget the carolers three

December's chill finally melted the Embers,

As we said our goodbyes, they urged me te remember

The birth and the song, and the warmth, and the eve.

I'll never forget the carolers three.

I'll never forget the carolers three.

"Fa la la la la la la la lee."
